The institute is financed by trading ventures and their associations and is promoted by the manufacturers of consumer and capital goods. The EHI-network covers approximately 500 members across Europe.

On the international level POPAI facilitates interdisciplinary information and experience exchange to its over 2000 members worldwide, 1000 of those situated in Europe.

The association's mission is to promote collaboration of its members, as well as to make public institutes and other third parties aware of the interests of the general public represented by the association.
